Each academic discipline adheres to a style of documentation used to format papers, cites sources, and create reference lists. There are several:  APA, MLA, Chicago, Turabian.  

Citation Builders

Here are a few citation builders/generators available on the Internet.  Remember these are not perfect tools and are only as good as knowledge of the people who developed them.  Always, proof citations created via these tools to make sure they are correct.

Also, many databases, including the Ebscohost Databases and ProQuest, now include citation functions. 

Zotero

Zotero [zoh-TAIR-oh] is a free, easy-to-use Firefox extension to help you collect, manage, and cite your research sources. It lives right where you do your work—in the web browser itself. This will save you a lot of time in your research.
