Learning Module: Indigenous Perspectives & Primary Junior Social Studies: Home

A guide on how to find indigenous perspectives on topics taught in the Ontario primary-junior social studies curriculum

Welcome

In this learning module we will discuss some strategies that you can use to find support materials to teach indigenous perspectives of the social studies curriculum. These same skills can be used to find resources for other subjects that you will be teaching in the public school system.

You're On!

It's your first placement

It's the first day of your placement and you'll be working with your associate teacher for the next couple of months. She wants you to teach a unit on social studies for the term and would like you to include indigenous perspectives into your unit plans.

In this section of the module discuss with your fellow group members the following questions:

  1. What do you think is meant by "indigenous perspectives"?
  2. Where would you go to find the necessary background information for your unit plan?

Take five minutes to discuss with your group
